Acrylic painting by Dr. Kathleen Sluka. This beautiful symmetrical painting of the stem of the corn plant. Corn is a major agricultural product for the state of Iowa, where I live. Iowa produces around 2.4 billion bushels of corn for grain which is used to feed livestock, ethanol production and manufactured goods, corn starch, corn syrup and even cereal. Iowa has 86,900 farms with 97 percent are privately owned by local families.
