Chromosomes are the structure that holds our DNA. Each chromosome holds the instruction set to generate your unique characteristics. Each cell contains 23 chromosome pairs, total of 46 of various shapes and sizes (gray). DNA is shaped like a twisted ladder, termed double helix (orange). the rings of the ladder are arranged in pairs which are connected by chemical bonds.
