Action potential send signals between neurons to transfer information. These electrical impulses are generated by the cell at the axon hillock and when release chemicals, called neurotransmitters, when they reach the end. These neurotransmitters then communicate with another neuron to send the message to another cell and ultimately the brain perceives the input. This can result in the sensation of pain, touch, or a variety of emotions.
